Uad apollo x8 series#
RME has been rock-solid from the beginning.Įven their Prodif series (prior to the original Hammerfall series) was rock-solid.īefore moving to Apollo, I was using a Fireface UFX. Ie: Apollo won't let you set the ASIO buffer size below 64-samples when working at higher sample-rates. The limitation of Apollo is trying to run native plugins at lowest possible round-trip latency. They're nice if you're just wanting to play/monitor/record thru UAD plugins.īeing able to do that at ~2ms latency (using their Unison technology) is a great feature. I have the Apollo-8 quad with Satellite quad expander.
With the Quantum and Quantum 2, Presonus has ushered in a new standard (for themselves) when it comes to performance and rock-solid drivers.
Uad apollo x8 windows#
I don't know why - could be a chipset thing with my motherboard I suppose, but with Thunderbolt and Windows or my Hackintosh partition, the Apollo performs flawlessly.Ĭlick to expand. If you're talking any previous Presonus audio interface, I'm 100% with you. No word of a lie, my audio performance is much more solid and stable than it ever was with a USB interface. Their Distressor model is one of the best on the market, and I use it a LOT and I can run multiple of them But also send DAW outs to a virtual out, as well as click-track to a virtual out, and then just monitor all my levels in the Console app for real-time recording Send DAW outs to a Virtual output, route that back into the DAW for recording - makes capturing my screen+audio extremely easy, which I need for my job Zero latency if I monitor through the Console app, which I do 8 microphone pre's with built in unison modelling so essentially 8x 1073 pre+eq's in the box. So I'm not hard up for guitar amps or effects or anything. I even have the original Softube Vintage and Metal Amp Room plugins. The reason I'm not using their guitar modelling stuff is because I already have a ton of stuff - as well as my real amps, I've got Line 6 Native, Mercuriall Spark and Reaxis, NeuralDSP Nameless (and I've pre-ordered the upcoming Fortin NTS model too), and many many more. Even in the Console app you can load them into the insert slots, so you actually can put stuff before them - like the RAT pedal for instance. But you don't have to put the guitar modelling stuff into the Console app.
Now I will say that I am not using it for guitar modelling. I've set it up so that I need to do very little customisation - the whole "jumping through hoops using the UAD mixer" thing is not something I am experiencing.
I just bought an Apollo x8p a few months back. I don't recognise most of the experiences here. Roseberry's review of the Quantum with Native (which I have) was really intriguing.Īnyway what say you TGP D&M? Anyone made the switch from non-UAD interface? Was it a PITA? Philosophical ruminations on feature rich vs lean and fast audio interfaces? Cost would be about the same. So, I started thinking maybe I should just go for the Presonus Quantum series and get a ridiculously fast, good sounding interface that is really simple in terms of routing. My setup now is dirt simple and the DAW handles everything. The unison based amp plugs it looks like I cannot put other virtual gear in front, etc". I would have to mess around with all my signal flow etc to use one of these things.
Uad apollo x8 how to#
they are supposed to be great interfaces with low latency.īut then I started watching some vids on how to route the UAD signals etc in Logic on YT. It would give access to some of those nifty plugins they have. As a Christmas idea, I was going to spec a new interface, I am currently on an old Firewire Focusrite Saffire 24. I like using AUs for recording and in realtime for practicing, etc.

I am running a Mac with Logic and Mainstage.
